Keeping network settings after driver update?

Afternoon

Using proWin32.exe downloaded from the intel site,  I can update the network drivers on my machine(s)

However, when I do this both the network settings and the VLAN (I use Vlan taging at the local machine) are lost.

This means updating the drivers remotely is not possible....since as soon as the drivers are updated, the machine

drops off the network

Does anyone know of a way to persist the network config post-update, without having to visit each machine in turn...?

Hello, seeking help with this 2 port pci-e nic. I am trying to build a home vmware lab to study for vcp 5.5 and was hoping to use this card in a system (tower) i built, specs below. the card can not be recognized (pnp) by 2008 r2 or 2012 r1. Unfortunaltely their are no led lights in the front plate for this card. When installing the prowinx64 driver, it will quit and say the software could not install since there are no nic card detected.

I have switched the nic from one pci-e slot to another, but same result. I have tried to different computers to make sure the nic is not faulty. From what I can tell, the bios only allows me to disable the internal nic. Any help would be appreciated.

Nothing but problems with Intel pro 1000 mt, teaming, etc

[rant on]

First off the Intel drivers are the dumbest thing I can imagine.  They won't upgrade, they won't uninstall the old junk and they won't work.  Yes, it's a 10yr old machine and the drivers stopped being able to be upgraded 5 yrs ago and it's been a PITA ever since Intel screwed up these drivers.

Long story short, it's been about 5 years I've been hacking at this junk from time to time.  It used to be two mirrored servers that worked great, at one point I attacked the main server's nic driver problem and fouled it up so badly it never ran again.  After much hacking the secondary machine became the primary and only and it's NEVER had teaming working again.  Single nic, mediocre performance.

I've got a new server (thankfully without an Intel Nic) that's running great, but it's time the old dog got some work and get this stupid driver fixed.

FINALLY, today I find where I can MSIZAP the old trash out.  Install the latest drivers.

Team this crap together and what the freak do you know but teaming fails?

Team the adaptors together and set the static ip and darned if the stupid thing says 'access to local only'

AGGGGGGGG.

Delete the team and it's still FUBAR

I cannot believe that these intel drivers have gotten this bad.  Used to be they were super, but now they suck and are increably hard to get configured.

Anyway, rant over.

System is a win server 2008 32 bit with two INTEL Pro/1000 MT dual port nics.

Windoze is up to date, upgraded from 2003 which had the same freeking problem.

Only way I can get it to connect is to enable DHCP, which of course defeats the purpose of having a !SERVER!  in the first place.

I'm ready to push thing thing out into the swimming pool at this point.

I cannot freekin believe how bad this problem has been to resolve...uhhhh, not resolve that is.

GRRRRR.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.  {sorry for the rant, but seriously Intel, why so freekin bollixed up?}

i218-LM code 10 after restart without cable

$

I have a system using an Intel i218-LM ethernet controller:

  • Fully patched (as of 16th Feb 2015) Windows 8.1 64-bit
  • Intel driver PROWinx64.exe, Version:19.5, Date:28th Oct 2014.  Appears in Windows as driver v12.12.80.19 dated 29th Sept 2014.

Under normal operation the LAN works correctly.  I can disconnect and re-connect the LAN cable, and each time the LAN connection is re-established.

If I perform a system restart with the LAN cable connected, the LAN is established correctly once Windows boots.

However, if I perform a system restart without a LAN cable connected then I get a Code-10 error in Windows under Device-Manager for the i218-LM controller.  When I re-connect the LAN cable obviously the connection isn't re-established due to the Code-10 error.  If within Device-Manager I disable and then re-enable the i218-LM, the Code-10 error goes away, and the connection is correctly established.

Any ideas?

Intel Boot Agent ??

I had a virus.

I restored a backup computer D845PESV Windows XP Pro SP3.

My old backup was not my new PCI Ethernet card Intel PRO / 1000Mbps PCI ACPI, Wake on LAN, PXE.

She has been recognized and works very well.

I am still a problem at every boot I have ever had before, a DOS window that says:

Initialyze and etablishing link

Intel Boot Agent GE v1.2.22 DHCP

PXE-E53 No boot file

PXE-MOF Exiting boot

How to remove this procedure?

Thank you for your cooperation

Remote Booting Z800

Hello,

I have a series of Z800 workstations working as a render farm.

Occasionally, for a variety of reasons, I need to boot them from off- not just sleep or hibernate- but completely shutoff from a remote location.

They all have the same processors: dual Xeon X5660

I've read that the z800s are AMT enabled however, when I boot one (locally) and get into the BIOS, there are no options regarding Intel AMT.

They also have broadcom netextreme nics that also supposedly support remote booting from completely off but I'm lost on how to get something like that going.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?  Is there a piece of software I'm missing?  Some driver I need to update?

It would be a huge time saver and fantastic if I could remote boot- whether it's using the NIC, AMT, or whatever works!

Thanks!

Intel(R) 82562V 10/100 Network Connection

Hi, I've recently pulled out an old computer to upgrade it (HP Pavilion a1640n) and I cannot seem to find any working drivers for the Intel(R) 82562V 10/100 Network Connection. I have tried searching through various forums, driver bases, etc. but cannot seem to get this to work. In addition the driver update posted here: Intel® Download Center does not fix the problem or change anything. Wondering if anyone can help me out.

Thanks,

Unable to establish link with Intel 82599ES 10-Gigabit SFI/SFP+ Network Connection

Hi,

I'm looking for help establishing (and troubleshooting) a link to a SPAN in promiscuous mode on Ubuntu Server 14.04.

This link was up and running and seeing packets for a few weeks. To help with an application issue, we installed the PF_RING kernel module, and after a server reboot, we have not been able to establish a link. We've rolled back our changes and removed PF_RING, but we are still not able to establish a link, and I'm looking for some help.

We've looked at our Gigamon SPAN and it appears to be sending data to our device but we have not been able to see any traffic ('tcpdump -i em1 -vv' does not see any traffic).

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff

I swear, nothing but problems with Intel drivers these days.

Picked up a quad port Pro 1000 PT.

Installed it.

Can't install the Intel drivers so I can team it.

This is the dumbest stuff I've seen in a long time.

WTF do I have to do to get these Intel Nics to work these days?????

I have a very basic question concerning the new XL710 QSFP NICs (i.e., XL710QDA1/2).  Will a QSFP to 4xSPF breakout give me 4 ethernet ports or are these NICs only intended to be connected to switches.

TIA.
